SPSS Training at Interdisciplinary Institute for Food Security, BAU

Application of Statistical Methods for Analyzing Data by SPSS

Interdisciplinary Institute for Food Security (IIFS), Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) is well known institute of excellence in inter-disciplinary education, research and development for food security throughout Bangladesh and even worldwide. In addition to the academic degree programs, need based training have also been important parts of the IIFS activities. Considering the interest of the researcher, it is our pleasure to offer a special training program on statistical methods for applied research in Bangladesh. The details of the course are as follows:

Course Topic: Application of Statistical Methods for Analyzing Data by SPSS

Duration: One week

Venue: ICF, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh

Training Fees: BDT 10000 (including food and accommodation) | BDT 7000 (excluding food and accommodation) | BDT 5000 (Only for BAU student; excluding food and accommodation)

Instructors: Prof. Shankar Majumder (IIFS, BAU); Sheikh Mohammad Sayem (Assistant Prof., BAU) & Md. Jamal Hossain (Assistant Prof., BAU)

Coordinator: Prof. Shankar Majumder (IIFS, BAU) | Email: rksmajumder@gmail.com

This training program includes both lecture and practical sessions. Topics include:

  • Introduction of Statistics
  • Graphical Presentation of Data
  • Introduction of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS)
  • Application of Descriptive Statistics in Applied Research
  • Parametric & Nonparametric Test for Evaluating Resource Development
  • Econometric Modeling of Production and Pricing
  • Forecasting Time Series Data for Sustainable Policy Making Issues
  • Multivariate Technique for Data Reduction
  • Analysis of Variance and Covariance for Experimental Data

Practical: Use of Statistical Package for Social Sciences for solving the research problems, data handling and management by SPSS, Tabular and graphical presentation of data and its interpretation, numerical description of data, parametric and nonparametric hypothesis testing

procedure for making decision, determine influencing factors of production and pricing on the basis of econometric modeling, forecasting production and prices data, data reduction procedure (Factor analysis) and finding the best treatment from experiment. It gives a lot of ideas about where and how statistical technique can be applied. Each participant will be able to conduct research with scientific proof(s). Only those joining the training will know it and feel its value. Hurry up to reserve your seat!
